Beautiful sandy beaches and clear blue skies as far as the eye can see is all in a days work for the locals of Cayman Islands . Cayman Islands also known as the hedge fund center' found the tranquil lands of the island rocked to the core by an earthquake producing major tremors. However, the major tremors that hit Cayman Islands did not cause nearly the level of chaos and damage to life and property as the quake that recently devastated the small nation of Haiti . The quake hitting Haiti made international news due to the sheer force and destruction the quake brought to the poverty stricken nation already struggling through economic hardship and political turmoil. International humanitarian efforts continue to offer their assistance and support for the hard hit nation. But, an earthquake hitting on one of the wealthiest offshore financial fortress on the planet is another story of international proportion and cause for concern.

The earthquake hit the lavish nation at approximately 9:23 am. Shortly after new reports came in to confirm no or little injuries occurred to either persons on the island or property. This is definitely good news for those shielding their tax-free investments and funds. Big names like UBS, Citco and Fortress have already reported the conditions of their establishment unchanged in spite of the quake that surprised the nation of hedge funds and tax havens for the richest of the rich. Registering 5.8 on the radar in magnitude, the quake has caused next to nothing in the way of damage to property in comparison to the 7.0 quake that obliterated Haiti 's struggling nation just one week to the day before. The Cayman Island quake was 6 miles beneath the sea and 32 miles ease of the capital of Cayman called George Town . Residence woke to the rattling sounds and tremors of this major quake but luckily none sustained injuries. The two quakes are believed to be the tip of the iceberg of Caribbean earthquakes to come this year.

The quake that hit the Cayman Islands hit just 430 miles south of Miami and took place on the stretch of sea between the North American and Caribbean tectonic plates. Considered a very volatile location in that region, the Cayman Islands were very fortunate to not sustain the level or degree of destruction that hit Haiti will such a force that caused massive destruction and lost of life. Expert geophysicist at the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science in Miami named Tim Dixon explained to news sources that the Cayman Islands location not being directly on the Enriquillo Fault Line that cause the massive quake in Haiti spared Cayman Islands from suffering a worse aftermath.
