There seems to be a new trend in Hollywood to go for the 4 th installment but without the original cast member for the first, second or third installments of a successful franchise. The last to take to the fourth time lucky film installment is the Pirates of the Caribbean .' The very successful sci-fi action adventure definitely more than warrants a fourth chapter to the trilogy that has entertained millions everywhere. However, not everyone appears to agree on who would return to the latest episode in the tremendous action adventure. Several of the key and original cast members who previously successfully co-starred along side the man of the hour Johnny Depp have opted out of the 4 th film and franchise altogether. The stupendous role of Capital Jack Sparrow will be reprised for a fourth time by none other than Johnny Depp. Studio bosses Disney's confirmed the return of the Pirates of the Caribbean 's' fourth series featuring Depp and the loveable character Barbossa played by Geoffrey Rush set for production in summer 2010. The confirmation also stated that neither Kiera Knightley nor Orlando Bloom would be returning to reprise their longstanding roles. While the news comes as a bit of a shock the pair did hint at the end of the last film's release their intentions were to not return for another adventure with Jack Sparrow being more like than not.

One the other hand Depp had signed on almost immediately after the 2008 release of the Pirates of the Caribbean 'At World's End. Rumor has it that the script was not even written and Depp was already onboard for another adventurous episode. Another change in the personnel is the director of the three previous films Gore Verbinski . It is unclear why he too opted out yet another amazing undertaking of one of Hollywood 's most successful action thrillers ever. But, it is safe to safe that with him at the helm of the trilogy the pressure will be on the shoulders of the new and replacement director. Stepping in to Verbinski's shoes as brave director of the fourth installment is the competent and more than capable director Rob Marshall . Marshall is more renowned for his direction of film greats such as Nine,' Chicago,' and Memoirs of a Geisha .' Speculation over Marshall replacing Verbinski first surfaced in July 2009 but by November the director Marshall confirmed his appointment with great delight. The teaming of Depp and Marshall is sure to make more than cinematic history. We can all expect on amazing new installment to the Pirates of the Caribbean and more. The fourth installment to this exciting for all ages franchise is entitled the On Stranger Tides and is due out in 2011.
